The challenge here was the site. A 20' deep lot which rose 30' at the back. The solution was the creation of terraces, each terrace stepping back a bit further from the house, capturing a bit more sunlight. The view from each floor is a unique experience.

The client has three young daughters who love to run up and down from terrace to terrace, playing hopscotch or feeding the goldfish in the cobblestone wall fountain.

In this garden we used old San Francisco cobbles, antique bluestone and large grey and green evergreen shrubs to give texture and substance to an otherwise formless space.

The view from the dining room, originally a 7-foot concrete wall, was transformed into a hanging garden with seating area and elegant potting shed.

The potting shed was designed to complement the interior furniture. A slate counter with recessed sink and shelves is functional as well as beautiful. The shelves display small pots of flowers and succulent plants.
